Returned from 1 week at The Altamadores on Oct 2nd.
Really clean and spacious rooms with amazing views. Weather was fab and Amadores beach beautiful.
Main downer for us was the monotony of the food (ok for 1 or 2 days but by day 3 we were sick of it and went out a few times) and the ‘entertainment’. Pete the entertainer was truly terrible. The cheesy Europop he played took me straight back to school disco’s in the ’80′s and the acts that performed were not great.
Self service bar was great apart from the 11pm closedown and the watered down lager!
Too far out of the way of other bars and restaurants for us to want to return which is a shame as the rooms were great.
Hi all got back from altamadores on the september 26th , the hotel was lovely and the rooms were clean and very spacious. the food could have been better they had same stuff on 2 much and sometimes had no flavour but apart from that everything was great. me and fiancee loved it tht much that we are planning on moving out there

Just come back on Monday from this fantastic hotel. Our room was great and we had fresh towels most days and beds changed twice during our stay. My little girl was sick during the night, but nothing is too much trouble for the lovely staff here, I got clean bedding straight away.

We made so many new friends that we’ll be keeping in touch with. Our 3 kids made a few friends and there were tears on our last day as they didn’t want to come home, they loved it here. Pete was great with everyone as was all of the staff here, making you feel very welcome.
Taxis are very cheap, we walked to Puerto Rico and got a taxi back which cost 3.50 euros. Altamadores beach is about a 10-15 minute walk down a steap hill, well worth a visit as it is lovely with restaurants, clean toilets which cost 50 cence per visit.
The Europa Centre took us about 10 minutes to walk there, the Barbacoa is great for families as they have trampolines for the kids and mini golf. There are the usual souvenier shops there and restaurants, bars, the usual thing.
The entertainment at Altamadores is excellent – our kids loved the parrot, reptile and eagle shows, also the magic show went down very well. Chris Mooney is excellent and The Tramps tribute group were brilliant. There’s prize bingo everyday, we played most days but didn’t win
The food is very good, and there is something for everyone here. The chinese & BBQ nights are excellent, other days varies, but there’s always chips even for breakfast! You can make toasties, which is what we did for our lunch. Plenty of salad, lovely cake, profiteroles, jelly, icecream for dessert. The bar is all self service and the kids can help themselves to slush and icecream, my youngest 2 couldn’t reach the soft drinks so we had to get those for them. There is also 2 filtered water machines.
All the rooms have a mini safe which cost 10 euros per week and a 10 euro deposit, very easy to operate and peace of mind knowing your passports and valuables were safe.
We are booking to go again next year around the same time. We’re missing the everyone there and the friends we made, it’s just a lovely friendly place to go. Even when my husband was poorly for 2 days last week, staff were knocking on our door asking if he was okay and did we need anything. Need I say more?

Have to agree with Misstt. Hotel is wonderful, clean and staff were brill. Taxi cheap to go most places and buses good, frequent and very cheap!
Rooms are spacious. Can get warm, recommend a balcony than terrace so you leave windows/doors open. Fans do a great job generally (just check they are going the right way!). Cleaned regularly, note staff tend not to come in when you are about so make a point of popping to pool/restaurant for a short while). Spar shop on site, slightly expensive but very handy for the bits and bobs you need.
Shame about some in-house entertainment. Some outside entertainment visiting for an hr were brill and would have been great if could stay longer. Spanish man cleared the hotel – try Blue Lagoon, down by the beach (great staff, food and venue) on these nights!
Only thing that really lets this place down is the food
There were times when it became mundane, tasteless and cold. Still there was a choice and always had salad (ignore lettuce – found bugs in it). But the bar more than made up for it!!! Food is cheap around the area so going out the odd eve for a meal not a prob. Hotel is still value for money compared to others in the area. You could always ask for pigeon pie!!!
Recommend hiring a car to visit some places (mountains etc) and makes the transfer times so much easier and quicker.
On that note I would still go back. Made lots of friends and that includes the staff (Jo & Jose espec).
it was me and my boyfriends second time visiting altamadores as we went last year in august ,although this year we went from the 19th july – 2 aug . i was really excited about going as we met alot of young couples and went out together alot for the two weeks last year.. this year i was extremly disappointed we didnt meet a single couple the hotel was full of foreign families so even a chat by the pool wasnt to be had! the entertainment wasnt up t its usual standards since leo left the new guy is really annoying and isnt the best with kids so we would rather go a wander than hang about! the food =/ not a great selection , to repeatative i guarantee by the end of your first week you will be feeling quite sick of it i dont think il be returning to the hotel although we fell in love with puerto rico
The hotel is in a good location with lovely views! The rooms are large and well equiped. There is no air conditioning but there are ceiling fans in the bedroom and lounge. During August the heat was unbearable during the night and we had to hire fans.
The entertainment isn’t brilliant. There is an act on each night, some fantastic (Chris Mooney) others which would send you to sleep (The Spanish man on a Monday night). During the day there was very little entertainment for the children. This wasn’t a problem for us as our children loved being in the pool and made lots of friends.
The food was hit and miss really. The choice was ok but fresh food is just poured into the dishes on top of food that has been there for probably a good while. Definatley not acceptable in English law! The restaurant is full of flies which are usually in the buffet. You may even find a pigeon or two in there!
We stayed one week in april -10.
We had a fantastic time, the whole area is marwelous!!!

For the second year running we’ve had a great time at Altamadores. Food was excellent … apartments spotless and the staff are fantastic (especially Giovanna and Jose who remember people who have visited before, which is really nice). Nothing is any bother for any of the staff. When we arrived this year, the fan in our room wasn’t working … it was fixed within 20 mins and that was late at night. Excellent.
The only thing missing this year, was a certain entertainer that was there last year, but hey ho … a holiday is what you make of it yourself and the kids loved Pete.
Altamadores is child friendly. Everything is on the one level and you can keep an eye on the kids and have a relaxing time yourself. Bliss.
Hopefully we will get booked up for next year …
no kettle but a coffee maker and quite alot of other things concidering its all inclusive there I found the rooms well equipped although a hairdryer and iron would of been more help than a toaster and coffee maker, very spacious rooms too!
i got there recently after 9.30pm when the food finishes. when we asked reception if we had missed food they told us to quickly go to our room and then to the restaurant. when we did they had saved us a massive plate of food each, not many places do that!!
Had a lovely holiday at Altamadores, we would definatly go back there again.Place was clean and the food was very good,they also had very good entertaiment at night.
It was really nice to visit, the hotel was absolutely wonderful and a gentleman at the hotel could speak even a little Finnish.
had a brillant 2 weeks holiday here 22nd may to the 5th june didnt want to come back home the staff are very good and friendly miss them all want to go back soon and recommend the altamadores to anyone very good for families.
they dont stop doing food until 9.30 drinks finish at 11.00 – it’s a lovely place and the waiter jose and the waitress giovanna are really nice too – their both lovely people and very helpful if you want to know how to make any cocktails you’ll have a great time wish we were going back there.
Just back from a week there – 31 May to 7 June – had a great time … thank you all

Just spend 2 weeks at the Altamadores, was well worth worth it, we had a fantastic time, great staff, friendly and very clean, food was great too, look out for Hose the waiter, he’s a scream ! Pete the entertainer was good too.
Cant wait to go back next year
This hotel is so nice!! We are in Barcelona now, but the city is not as beautiful as Puerto Rico…x

just spent a week here 14th april-21st april, what a lovely place , quiet and very spacious apartments, would defo return !!!!
i stayed here august last here & couldn’t fault the place.
I’ve not long been back from the Altamadores, i’m so gutted i didn’t stay All Inclusive. We stayed from 5th -15th July and normally spend all our time on the beach so didn’t think it would benefit us going AI…..The pool area and place is just fantastic so ended up being there all day everyday. I’ve been to PR soooo many times (3 already this year) and this was by far the nicest place i’ve stayed in there. I’m looking to be back over the next couple of months but struggling to book back in here
I’m not a huge beer drinker, but half a pint of Tropical with a little lime goes down a treat during the day!… The food is also lovely.
There’s no ironing board or iron (probably the only thing the rooms dont have!!) but there is a Laundry room onsite, i didnt use it so not sure exactly whats in there.
